SOFTGOODS PRODUCT Photography
Apparel & softgoods Photography Built for brands
Softgoods and apparel photography requires a different eye than hard-goods work. Fabric has texture, drape, and movement that needs to be understood and managed on set. A garment that photographs poorly isn't a bad garment - it's a garment that wasn't prepared, styled, and lit correctly. We know the difference, and we know how to get there.

What Makes Apparel Photography Different
Every fabric behaves differently in front of a lens. Knits read differently than wovens. Performance materials reflect light in ways that require specific lighting control. Loose silhouettes need to be managed so the shape reads clearly without looking shapeless. These are the details that separate apparel photography from general product photography, and they're where our experience matters.
We handle full pre-shoot prep: steaming and pressing before the shoot, garment stuffing or hanging where appropriate, and hand finishing on set. Products should arrive clean and in production-ready condition, but we take care of everything else.
Flat, Ghost, and On-Figure
Softgoods photography falls into three main formats, and many brands use a combination. Flat lay gives a clean, graphic look that works well for print and digital catalogs. Ghost mannequin (also called invisible mannequin) shows the garment's 3D shape without a model, which is efficient for high-volume ecommerce shoots. On-figure photography with models brings the garment to life and communicates fit, movement, and styling in a way that flat and ghost work cannot.
For brands that need on-figure work, we handle talent coordination and casting as part of our production services. We work with a roster of professional models and can also accommodate fit models for technical sizing imagery.
Ecommerce and Brand
Softgoods clients typically need two types of imagery working in tandem: clean ecommerce shots that meet Amazon or Shopify specs, and brand-oriented imagery that shows how the product fits into a lifestyle or aesthetic. We can structure a shoot to produce both in a single day, which is almost always more efficient and more cost-effective than running them separately.
If you're also thinking about commercial campaign work or lifestyle photography for your brand, we can build a production plan that covers all of it under a single scope. Our FAQ covers how pricing, deposits, and turnaround work for multi-format shoots.
Prep matters more with softgoods: A garment that arrives wrinkled or unsteamed adds time to the shoot day. For best results, send clean, pressed, production-ready units and include backup pieces for any hero SKUs.
